Schools, Universities, and Communities Collaborating for Equitable Educational Development
The CSI (Community Schools Initiative) was established in 2002 and has launched in over 200 schools in the city. The goal of CSI is to offer academic and social programs before, during, and after school. These programs are aimed to provide support and services to students and families, in the aim to support student learning, health, and involvement with the community. The SUCCEED research team at Loyola University Chicago launched in 2019, and aims to study the impact of the CSI programs on the academic performance, social emotional development, and family perceptions of students involved in the CSI programs at CPS schools.
