I have been really inspired by the level of curiosity, wonder, and creativity that young children exhibit and I am looking forward to better understanding how the CSI programs are able to unlock such potential. I hope to understand how schools could enrich the three pillars of youth in a way that the children learn without being aware of it. I want to be able to see what implications could be determined from observations such as the one I am about to perform and be able to integrate them into my own research for next semester. I am anxious in my unawareness of what is to come, but I hope that I am able to provide my greatest efforts to provide an accurate record of what students are feeling and how they are reacting to the programs.
To me as an individual, it meant that I wanted to take advantage of an opportunity that would let me further my understanding of how education fails and succeeds in providing opportunities to students across all social backgrounds. Considering that my major is in secondary education, it completely aligns with my future career as a teacher who seeks to understand the outside forces that impact the learning of students. Student observations at Sunny High School offered a glimpse to how research based teaching strategies and curriculum can effectively integrate social justice through teaching. I wish to replicate that through my involvement in this project.
